Manchester United have a rich history of promoting academy players into the first-team and could be about to unearth another one.

From the likes of Bobby Charlton to the likes of Ryan Giggs, to now Andreas Pereira and Marcus Rashford, there have always been academy players coming through the doors at the Manchester United.

Despite the club having incredible riches and the ability to sign the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, there are still academy graduates coming through and the next one knocking on the door is 18-year-old Angel Gomes.

At the end of the 2016/17 season, Gomes came on to replace Wayne Rooney and became the youngest player to represent the club since Duncan Edwards in 1953 but since then he has struggled to get back into the first-team squad.

Blessed with incredible technical ability, the 18-year-old can take the ball in tight areas at ease. It doesn't matter if there are multiple players around him, Gomes still has the rare ability to receive the ball while beating the opposition defender with one touch.

With the ball at his feet, Gomes can take players on in one on one situations, which for an attacking midfielder is a great asset to have. The diminutive player also has the ability to pick a pass and score goals as seen by his three goals and one assist already in Premier League 2.

Although it's quite a bold statement to make, Gomes is arguably one of the best talents in the academy system in England at the moment. For an 18-year-old he's already playing at an incredibly high level and everything he seems to do on the pitch seems natural.

However, with Mourinho as manager, breaking into the first-team is going to be hard. Despite the club having a rich history of bringing through young players into the club, Jose Mourinho has never been the one to put his faith in youth.

At such a young age, Gomes still has a lot to learn but with Mourinho at the helm, the talented midfielder should definitely be thinking of moving to get first-team football. He's that good already that he should be testing himself at a high level.
