Turkish Wonderkid Fought Over By The 3 European Giants

Right, admit it, you have probably never heard of Turkish midfielder Muhammed Demirci, I am pretty confident that goes for the majority of you.  That is by no means a criticism, why should you be aware of a 16 year old who plays mostly for the Besiktas youth team?

Well all that could soon change as we are learning today that the youngster is attracting the interest of Manchester United, as well as previously being linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid, there, that should have got your attention.

The midfielder joined Besiktas in 2006 when he was just 11, and he has worked his way up through the youth ranks.  Earlier this month he made an appearance for the first team and it is thought that more could follow.  He also signed his first professional contract at the club which lasts until 2013.

Demirci is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in Europe and much is expected of him, comparisons have been made between him and Lionel Messi in the past and thus there is immense pressure on the players shoulders to live upto these expectations.

It has been reported that the player has already been on trial at Barcelona and that there is already an offer on the table to take the player to Catalonia at the end of the season.  Interest from Real Madrid would also be formalised into a firm offer should the Barcelona approach gain weight.  The race for the player is now made more intriguing by Sir Alex Ferguson showing desire to take the young prodigy to Old Trafford, meaning that the Turk has his choice of 3 of the best teams in Europe.

The starlet is supposedly favouring a move to England and should this be the case and United secure the player, it would be further evidence of the club building a side for the future, following recent signings of Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez the transfer policy at Old Trafford clearly seems to be paving the way for future success.

Wherever the attacking midfielder ends up it will be an exciting signing for someone and should he live upto expectations then there could be a real player ready to emerge.  Me personally I would like to see him at Manchester United or Barcelona, both sides have great expertise when it comes to nurturing this young talent and I feel they could do a good job here, I am not so sure that the pressure for places at Real Madrid would be particularly useful in the players development.
