According to the Daily Star, Brondby are preparing a bid for the Liverpool defender.
Agger came through the ranks at the Danish side before moving to Merseyside but it seems his days at Anfield are numbered
The 29-year-old defender faces an uncertain future at Liverpool following the arrival of Croatian defender Dejan Lovren.
Lovren arrived at Anfield in a deal worth up to £20 million from south coast club Southampton and Agger has openly admitted that he is unwilling to play second fiddle.
Barcelona are reportedly in advanced talks with Agger who want to bring him to the club to join Luis Suarez on a five-year deal.
But Brondby chairman Jan Bech Anderson is hoping the lure of playing for his boyhood club will tempt Agger back to the club.
“He is a dream player, there is no doubt about that,” he said.
“We will work really, really hard to secure Daniel but as he has also said, when he was here with Liverpool, the timing has to be right.
“So let us hope we can tie up the loose ends. When that is, time will tell but we will go a long way to get him back because it will show where we set the bar.
“It will show that we have ambitions and will make a lot of fans happy.”
“We will do everything in our power but it is clear that we also need to be responsible and we need to do what is right at the right time.
“But to answer the question, yes, we will do everything that we can, if and when the possibility arises, and see if we can tie up the loose ends.”
