Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not surprised to hear via The Mirror that their Brazilian misfit Paulinho is a transfer target for both Sao Paulo and Corinthians.
Punters feel that a move back to his Brazilian homeland may be a good option as he is yet to make a Premier League start under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
He has been a major disappointment since his £17 million move from Corinthians and it now appears that the Brazilian club he left are happy to have him back.
It seems as though Sao Paulo and Corinthians have been alerted by the lack of first team football the 26-year-old is currently receiving in England.
That said, the Brazilian international’s high wages of £70,000-a-week could prove to be a stumbling block if any talks progress but Corinthians’ sporting director and former Arsenal midfielder Edu Gaspar has claimed Paulinho is always welcome back.
Gaspar said: “The door is open for Paulinho as he is still very popular here. I don’t think the financial package would be an issue.”
