Reports suggest Tottenham are chasing 16-year-old Porto striker Sergio Ribeiro. They face stiff competition from Udinese but are hopeful of securing the promising teenagers signature.
Already the captain of the Portugal u-16 side, Ribeiro is considered one of the hottest young talents in Europe. Both Tottenham and Udinese have sent scouts to watch Ribeiro and both are planning a summer swoop for the teenager.
In 5 years time we may all be talking about Ribeiro the same way we did about Rooney, Ronaldo and Messi when they were that age but at this present moment in time I feel Spurs scouts could be put to better use.
The collapse of their season has highlighted weaknesses within their squad and next season it may only get worse. With what is certain to be summer interest for Bale and Modric and the return of Adebayor to City their squad may yet be depleted further.
Tottenham will certainly have to strengthen their defence and striker force but if they were to lose Bale and Modric then the midfield will need improvement also. Tottenham’s scouts should be scanning Europe and England for players who could replace players such as Bale and Modric and players which can attempt to ensure a collapse such as this will not occur again next season.
