Metro have interested our punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they have claimed that Tim Sherwood has offered his backing to one of his forwards who has been struggling of late.
Roberto Soldado has found his move from Valencia to North London slightly harder than we may have thought, and despite some troubles off the field and the managerial changes at Tottenham, we still expected him to do a little bit better.
The Spanish forward had even been linked with a move back to La Liga with Atletico Madrid, with Diego Costa potentially going in the opposite direction.
After his winning goal against Cardiff City at the weekend however, Sherwood claimed that Soldado was improving and noted: “I was delighted for Robbie, he’s a great character around the place,
“The boys love him and want him to do well. If I could have picked anyone to score that goal today, it would have been him.
“He’s a great lad, he’s never a moment’s problem and is a true professional. He knows he’s been in a sticky spell but I always looked him in the eye and knew that he had the belief, and that’s important, for him to dig himself out of it.
“I’m just hoping this is a platform for him to go on and kick on now.”
As one of our punters noted, that to us seems like Soldado does have a future at the club under Sherwood – although how long he will last is anyone’s guess!
