Liverpool once again struggled this weekend and saw themselves knocked out of the FA Cup at Anfield as West Brom shocked the Reds and put in a superb display to advance to the last 16.
It was another disappointment for the Reds who have endured a tough few weeks, and despite beating Manchester City, they have suffered consecutive defeats to two of the Premier League’s lowest ranked sides.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord has been having a few beers with the Reds fans this week, and they are, in the main, pleased that the club have been showing some ambition in the transfer market of late, with big money captures of the likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita replacing the expensive sale of Philippe Coutinho.
Despite those two players coming in, the Reds still stand to lose Emre Can in the summer, and our landlord thinks the club need to be going out and adding someone to replace the German international.
One such player who has come to our landlord’s mind is Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, who has been going about his business for Los Blancos for a number of years now with minimal fuss.
The Brazilian is the sort of player who is integral in a team full of creative players, given his ability to just sit in and break up the play while he fellow attacking stars do the business in the opponents box.
He might not want to leave Madrid, but the Spanish club have had a poor season, and with a huge summer shake up likely on the way, Casemiro might well end up being one of the casualties for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
