‘Unfortunate but true’ – Man United fans react after Sky pundit makes Mourinho statement

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to comments made by Jamie Redknapp on Sky Sports that flair players won’t want to sign for Jose Mourinho’s teams. Mourinho is synonymous with setting up teams defensively and has come under fire in recent years for playing negative football.

The United fans propping our bar up have turned their attention to the FA Cup and Premier League after being knocked out of the Champions League next week at home to the lesser fancied Sevilla. The Champions League exit was a major blow for Manchester United as they looked more than likely to put the tie to bed after securing a 0-0 draw in Seville, however, Mourinho’s tactical set-up at Old Trafford has been highlighted as the reason that the Manchester giants were no apart of the quarter-finals draw.

The recent defensive performances from the Red Devils has infuriated fans as they were used to turning up to Old Trafford and watching their side go out and play “The United Way” with free-flowing, attacking football. Our local United fans are all in agreement that the way the Portuguese tactician sets up his team at Manchester United is having an impact on the players at the club. Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez have all been accused of playing below their best under Mourinho this season and fans are starting to believe that it’s no coincidence.
