In a brilliant article that has caused much debate here at the Football Transfer Tavern, the Daily Mirror has claimed that Manchester United midfielder Anderson wishes to remain at the club and does not consider himself to be a flop.
Anderson of course has been at the Manchester giants for six years now and has been on the fringe of the first team to say the least after a promising start. After quotes attributed to the player claiming he “wanted to leave many times and never succeeded” came to light, the Brazilian international has now moved to strike these rumours down.
The midfielder noted that: “Everyone knows I’m happy at the club. I’ve had a lot of injuries but I’ve never let the smile go from my face. I try to help the team all the time. This is me. When I want to leave I will have to talk to the boss first. I don’t (want to leave).”
He also addressed the fact that former ‘big name’ players have tried and failed at Old Trafford, saying: “It’s not easy to play for Manchester United. A lot of top players came here and couldn’t do it. Veron – some big players – Kleberson came here and didn’t play. I have stayed for six years.”
In a further attempt to show how much he wanted to stay Anderson spoke about the fact that if he left United, there would only be Real Madrid or Barcelona left to go to – and as our landlord quips it is not like he would get in either of those sides either!
Are Anderson’s days as a Red Devil numbered or do you want him to stay? Let us know your thoughts below.
