It has been quite the few days for Manchester United supporters in The Football Transfer Tavern after the departure of manager David Moyes and now today’s The Guardian has some very interesting transfer speculation.
Jamie Jackson from the paper is reporting that Manchester United’s £30 million transfer for Luke Shaw is ‘virtually complete’ with an agreed £100,000-a-week package enough to lure the highly-rated 18-year-old to Old Trafford.
The news offers a boost to Red Devils supporters in the bar and marks the first major transfer activity of a summer that could see the club spending £150 million as they seek a massive improvement next season.
United have gazumped Chelsea with the five-year contract for Shaw and it would make Shaw the highest paid teenager in England.
Moyes is thought to have completed the groundwork to sign the Englnd international with the Blues previously thought to be leading the chase.
Also intriguingly, news is spreading that current first choice left back Patrice Evra will actually stay with the club despite speculation to the contrary. Evra could sign a new contract instead of leaving on a free transfer as expected.
It is thought that the Shaw transfer will be confirmed before a possible World Cup appearance, with Roy Hodgson considering taking the youngster instead of Ashley Cole.
Do you think that Shaw will become a United player in the summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
