Manchester United are planning to hijack Leeds United’s famed academy for their latest hot prospect Elliot Kebbie. Although Leeds are willing to fight tooth and nail to keep the wonderkid at Elland Road for the foreseeable future.
Kebbie, 16, won’t actually become a full-time scholar at Leeds until 2011 but, has impressed the visiting United scouts sufficiently enough for Ferguson to plan a bid of upto £1 million for the Halifax born starlet.
This is not the first time the Thorp Arch academy has been in the headlines, famously in 2006 Chelsea were taken to tribunal over the alleged tapping up of top prospects Michael Woods and Tom Taiwo. Both of which joined up with Chelsea after protracted negotiations.
United have always stressed in the media that they follow the rules to the letter in their attempts to sign players but, with this potentially negative publicity about to unfold over Kebbie, how will United play there bullish transfer tactics down.
Kebbie, a pacey midfielder has interested United since 2009 but, has so far stuck with the lily-whites academy and, after watching the unsuccessful results of Woods and Taiwos move to the Premiership elite. He looks to be sticking with the club he stands the better chance of making himself a household name at.
