The future of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been discussed at length here inside the Football Transfer Tavern, and Declan Warrington of the Daily Mail does believe the club are set to replace him in the summer.
Manchester United have reportedly lined up an £8 million move for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, casting real doubt over the future of De Gea.
The young Spaniard has again had a mixed season at Old Trafford, and has been linked with a return to Spain with Real Madrid supposedly interested.
Stoke’s signing of Jack Butland on deadline day suggests the departure of Begovic could be imminent, with the young goalkeeper rejecting a move to Chelsea on the grounds he wouldn’t be playing immediate first team football.
Bosnia Herzegovina international keeper Begovic could also be a target for Liverpool, who still have doubts over the future of Pepe Reina, whilst Arsenal have also expressed an interest in the 25-year-old.
Manchester United remain the firm favourites for his signature however, with any move made dependent on whether the club can find buyers for De Gea, and second choice goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard.
