Manchester United are edging ever closer to landing Chilean winger, Alexis Sanchez. The player has been in fine form for current club Udinese of late, and has been on Fergie’s radar since catching the United boss’ eye at last summer’s World Cup.
The player’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, was recently quoted as saying: “Yes, they [Manchester United] are watching him, and it could be a possibility in the future. I have heard that another Premier League club also enquired, but they didn’t contact me.”
United remain the only club to be mentioned at all in connection with Sanchez, whose combination of pace, power and technique have seen him dubbed “El Niño Maravilla” – The Wonder Boy! He can be deployed on the wing, up front or as an attacking midfielder, although his preferred position is on the flank.
To sum up: Sanchez would be the replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo United have been so desperate to find.
Udinese would hope to hold out for at least £16m for their star man, although a transfer deal is still far from imminent, as Felicevich also affirmed: “I don’t think he will move in the January transfer window, but maybe in the summer. We will see.”
United may just have to wait to get their man, although if reports are to be believed, Sanchez is a talent worth waiting for.
