The Daily Mail have Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern rolling their eyes and looking slightly gutted as they seem to think that Mario Balotelli has long-term plans to stay at Anfield – well according to his agent Mino Raiola at least.
Given the Italian international forward survived deadline day, he will be on Merseyside until the summer at the very least or a fair bit longer if his agent has anything to do with it.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the super agent claimed: “The plan is to continue at Anfield,
“I saw him Monday and told him: ‘You have a four-year contract and I won’t bring you away. Or you leave Liverpool at 60-70 million, and I won my bet, or you’ll die there.”
As one of our punters notes, it would be all too easy for the forward to sit on his contract given he is only 24-years-old now and would still have plenty of life in him when it ended.
However, we think that one final chance should be handed to him now that Daniel Sturridge is back and Balotelli finally has the chance he has craved to play as part of a front two.
However, as our landlord notes, if that fails, then he should be shipped out in the summer to whoever will take him.
