Leicester City defender Jonny Evans put in another strong performance for the Foxes as they defeated Bournemouth to continue their unbeaten streak.
Leicester defeated Bournemouth 3-1 at the King Power to put the club in third place in the division, and the commanding centre-back was a vital component in the club’s win.
In terms of stats, Evans led from the front both with the ball at his feet and in defence. He made eight clearances throughout the game, more than anyone else on both sides. Elsewhere, he made two successful tackles and won an impressive five aerial duels, four more than his counterpart Caglar Soyuncu, as per WhoScored.
Even with Soyuncu being the more pertinent ball-player out of the two defenders, having much more possession than Evans, he still showed how comfortable he was with the ball at his feet, having a really impressive 90 per cent pass completion rate – the highest on the entire pitch.
Overall, WhoScored scored him a 7.2 for his performance, the highest for any of the central defenders on the pitch.
It wasn’t only WhoScored who deemed Evans to have a really good game, as Leicestershire Live’s Jordan Blackwell also rated his performance. He gave Evans an eight, saying that he popped exactly when needed throughout the match whenever Bournemouth attacked, clearing crosses regularly and making a vital block to deny Adam Smith.
Throughout this season, Evans has averaged six clearances per game, 0.5 blocks per game, a passing percentage of 87.3 per cent – which are the best stats for those specific fields out of anyone in that Leicester side who has started a game, as per WhoScored.
Evans and Soyuncu are building a really good relationship at centre-back. If these two can keep putting in performances like they are, then it is no far-fetched to suggest that Leicester can remain in the European places as the season goes on.Like what the TT have on offer?
