Arsenal were held to their third consecutive draw inside 90 minutes after Wolverhampton Wanderers scored a late goal, with one player impressing in just his second appearance of the season.
The Gunners took the lead after David Luiz’s cross from the right-hand side found Alexandre Lacazette who in turn set up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the opening goal of the game.
However, Wolves equalised with less than 15 minutes to go, when a cross from Joao Moutinho, following a quick throw-in, was headed home by Raul Jimenez.
Aubameyang has been a sensation for the north London giants this season, scoring eight goals in just 11 games in the top-flight (via Transfermarkt). His goals have won the Gunners a mammoth 10 points, showing his crucial impact this season.
Mesut Ozil was also at the heart of the action for Unai Emery’s side in what was just his second league appearance of the season. The German played the most final-third passes and joint-most key passes of any Arsenal player in a superb creative performance (via WhoScored).
Will Unai Emery survive the season in charge of Arsenal?
However, it was Kieran Tierney who showed once again why the Gunners were so keen to spend £25m on him in the summer (via BBC).
The Scotsman made the most tackles (2) and interceptions (2) of anyone in the back four and also won the joint-most aerial duels of the unit with 2, in a brilliant defensive display against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Football.london were also impressed, giving Tierney an eight out of 10, commenting on his battle with Wolves’ Adama Traore.
They said: “His battle with Adama Traore was among this game’s most intriguing contests and one where the Arsenal man came out on top more often than not as the game wore on.” (Source: football.london)
