Unwelcome transfer blow should force Man United into moving for these 2 defenders right away

The Daily Record podcast, via TEAMtalk are reporting, that Everton have agreed a £25 million deal in principle for Celtic left-back, Kiran Tierney.

This follows reports that Manchester United have been tracking the 21-year-old’s form and progress for some months. This fresh turn of events though leaves Mourinho needing a new target to fill the gaping left-back hole in his squad.

With Daley Blind looking set to depart; Luke Shaw being so out of favour; Borthwick-Jackson considered unready for first team action; and Ashley Young only getting older, the manager will be seeking an emphatic solution to this problem.

Jose Gaya

Jose Gaya has been linked with top European clubs for so long it’s hard to believe the Spaniard is still only 23.

Now the time has finally come for one of the giants of football to prise him away from Valencia.

Gaya has been shining at the Mestalla for several consecutive seasons and he’s ready to take the next step in his career.

He is also a great fit for this United side. Not only is there a ready made space for him in the squad, but his pace and defensive discipline will be vital to Mourinho’s mission of upgrading and solidifying his back line ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The likes Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku will also be expected to thrive off Gaya’s excellent attacking interplay and deliveries from out wide.

It all sounds like a perfect fit – and it could turn out to be – but Gaya has recently signed a new contract with Los Che, so it will take a huge bid to bring him to Manchester. United have the financial firepower to pull that off though.
