Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger never usually shocks the Football Transfer Tavern but a move for Anzhi Makhachkala’s Uzbekistan international midfielder Odil Ahmedov would be a surprise to say the least.
talkSPORT are claiming that a move for the holding midfield man is on this summer and the player himself has confirmed that he had been scouted by the North London club on numerous occasions last season.
The 25-year-old has impressed in the Russian Premier League since his move to mega rich Anzhi in 2011.
Ahmedov could be the sort of player Arsenal are looking for to help their midfield worries with Abou Diaby and Jack Wilshere constantly struggling with injuries leaving Aaron Ramsey to hold the midfield in tandem with Mikel Arteta.
“It is true I have interest from Arsenal – their scouts have watched me in every match this season,” Ahmedov told Izvestia.
“If I move there, I could be a huge success but there is no bid yet.”
