The Daily Mail are reporting that Manchester City will cause a massive shock by bringing in former Manchester United flop Juan Sebastian Veron in a £7 million move from Estudiantes LP. Veron has reinvented himself back in his homeland following difficult spells at Premiership sides United and Chelsea after a £28 million move to United went wrong and Mancini is now interested in bringing the veteran back.
City boss Roberto Mancini has worked with Veron before as the duo played together at both Lazio and Sampdoria and Mancini then loaned Veron from Chelsea when he was in charge of Inter, and the Italian is a big fan of the Argentinean’s abilities, regardless of his previous failure in England. Mancini has reportedly gone straight to Veron with the offer which has also been suggested to Estudiantes, Veron’s hometown club.
Veron is believed to have wanted to dismiss the proposal as the 34-year-old, who still features prominently for Argentina, does not want to risk another disastrous spell in England but Estudiantes have asked him to consider the move as the transfer fee would be a massive financial boost for them. Mancini has offered Veron wages of around £130,000 a week in a bid to convince him to make the move.
City fans are likely to be underwhelmed at the idea of a United flop joining them and the move will not be a popular one should it take place unless Veron manages to excel in England this time around.
[Is there any substance to this and should this rumour Fly or Die?]
