Tottenham Hotspur will be preparing for their home clash against PSV Eindhoven as they look to keep their slim hopes of qualifying for the next round alive.
Spurs were held to a 2-2 draw in Holland, but defeats to both Inter Milan and Barcelona have left Mauricio Pochettino’s side with a really difficult task.
However, ahead of the game, the manager revealed that there was some positive news to share about one of his players.
The Kenya international will, however, remain unavailable for the Champions League encounter, but Spurs are hopeful he could feature against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
“It was a different knee he injured and he’s close to being back and hopefully will be available for selection on Saturday,” Pochettino said.
Wanyama’s imminent return will come as good news to Tottenham and Pochettino as injury concerns have plagued the central midfield area.
Mousa Dembele was the latest to suffer a knock and there are suggestions that he could miss a significant period of time after he was forced off in the early stages of the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, Wanyama has missed a large portion of the season already and it could take some time for him to be up to the standard needed as Tottenham look to compete across all competitions.
