There may be no English clubs left in the Champions League this term but it does not stop us being interested in the stellar competition and there is more than a little bit of a giggle around the Football Transfer Tavern as we watch this latest video.
Of course it involves former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho who is looking for his third European cup and the holy La Decima. Jose is well known for the drama and eye poking he occasionally does, not to mention spending a fair bit of time in the old laundry basket when UEFA are upset with him but he is also well known for something else.
No one can forget the relationships the Portuguese tactician forges with his players, be it them crying saying: “It’s like my father has died” in the case of Didier Drogba or keeping pictures in their locker like Inter chief Massimo Moratti. This is not to mention Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s rant at Pep Guardiola claiming that: “If Mourinho lights up a room, Pep pulls down the curtains.” Clearly the Special One is always in the hearts of his former players and that was shown on his spying mission to Istanbul, Turkey to see his next opponents – Galatasaray whom Los Blancos will face in the last eight of the Champions League.
Upon seeing his former manager in the crowd, Wesley Sneijder stopped in the middle of a game to wave at Mourinho in a rather enthusiastic fashion, getting an equally happy response from the former Inter manager. One can only hope Didier Drogba doesn’t feel left out – we at the tavern think he could probably just about take the Dutchman in a fight!
