A debate has broken out in the Football Transfer Tavern over the worst penalty kick ever taken.
There are a fair few contenders from recent memory that spring to mind.
David Beckham’s wild effort against Portugal in the Euro 2004 quarter final defeat is a contender.
Or perhaps Arsenal’s Thierry Henry and Robert Pires trying to be too cocky by attempting an audacious one-two from the spot in a Premier League game against Manchester City in 2006.
Or perhaps Liverpool’s Charlie Adam managing to find the Wembley car park from the spot during last seasons Carling Cup final.
But here we have found a contender for the unwanted crown of worst penalty kick of all-time, as somehow the player involved has managed to hit a penalty that actually ended up going behind him.
The bizarre kick was taken by America-SP’s designated penalty taker, Pilo – against Votuporanguense in the Paulista A3 league just in case you were wondering.
After watching it several times, it’s still hard to work out exactly how he’s managed it.
Take a look and decide for yourself whether you think this could be infact the worst penalty kick off all time!
