[video] Sir Alex’s Thoughts AVB, Rio Ferdinand & John Terry

Sir Alex has every right to approach today’s game at Old Trafford with a certain degree of optimism as Spurs have failed to win there since Gary Lineker was key to ‘that’ win in 1989. ‘It’s one of the coincidences that a team suits you, you know?’

‘It’s one of those games we always seem to do well against.’

Sir Alex Ferguson rates Valencia as “doubtful”. Darren Fletcher and Scott Wootton are both in the United squad as are Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.

Tottenham could see the return of Kyle Naughton, But Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring), Scott Parker (Achilles), Jake Livermore (groin), Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul (both knee) are all out.

On Rio Ferdinand’s possible return to International football: “I wouldn’t think he will get called up,” said Ferguson.
“Roy Hodgson made his decision before the European Championship and I can’t see him changing that.
He added: “It would be difficult for him now to go back to Rio Ferdinand and welcome him back.”
