Vidic set to pen new deal

Nemanja VidicThe Metro have a claim that could well put a smile on the faces of Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that defender Nemanja Vidic is set to pen a new deal at the club and ward off interest from AC Milan.

Since his arrival in 2006, Vidic has proven himself to not only be one of the top defenders in the club but also in the Premier League and has been a key part of the success at Old Trafford. Now it seems that despite the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, successor David Moyes is keen to show the player just how important he is to the club and will reward him with a bumper new deal.

Vidic himself spoke about his future an noted that

‘I’m just trying to perform as best I can and we’ll see where I am and what the plans are,’

‘I’m not worried. I never like to make promises about how many games I could play, but I feel good.’

Should the defender sign a new deal, he would net around £2 million due to a signing on bonus and as one of our punters quips, that is pretty decent in itself! Given that David Moyes has not yet made any signings this summer, keeping Vidic at the club would prove as huge coup and show that the senior players at the club are on board with Moyes as a manager and willing to commit long term under him.
