Aston Villa are set to be busy in January if rumours in the Football Transfer Tavern are to be believed, with Adrian Kajumba of the Daily Star reckoning that Paul Lambert is preparing a bid for another striker.
Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray is the target, with Lambert ready to offer £1 million for a man who has already bagged 20 league goals in just 18 games for the Eagles.
Murray has just 18 months left on his contract at Selhurst Park, meaning the 29-year-old would be available for as little as £1 million.
Murray’s former manager at Crystal Palace, Dougie Freedman is thought to want to bring him to Bolton Wanderers, although the Championship’s top scorer would prefer a move to the Premier League, and the acrimonious circumstances in which Freedman left Selhurst Park earlier this season would make such a move unlikely.
Cumbrian born Murray started his career at non-league Workington Reds in 2002 but really started to score goals on a consistent basis in 2007 for Rochdale, before making a move to Brighton, and then onto arch-rivals Crystal Palace.
