Aston Villa

Villain’s Villainy Verified. A Bit. At Last. Probably.

The identity of the light-fingered rogue who pilfered Aston Villa’s most treasured piece of silverware has finally been revealed after almost 30 years of secrecy.

Villa were deprived of the European Cup back in 1982 following their victory over Bayern Munich as Peter Withe and co celebrated their fine achievement in the Fox Inn, near Tamworth.

Former Fox Inn landlord John Bayliss has now named the cheeky sod who pinched it as Adrian Reed. The culprit is believed to have lived locally but needn’t fear reprisals as he has since died in a car crash.

Amusingly, the cup was handed into police in Sheffield just hours after it had been stolen only for the coppers to stage their own impromptu cup final.

Villa fans will almost certainly sleep more easily safe in the knowledge that this most regrettable affair has now finally been cleared up.
