Vincent Janssen’s has had a difficult time at Tottenham Hotspur since joining them in 2016.
Plenty was expected of the Holland international when he arrived from AZ Alkmaar, however, he struggled to show any real impact with the Premier League outfit.
Having scored just six times for Spurs in his first season, he spent time out on loan at Fenerbahce, where he failed to rediscover his form.
Since returning to north London Janssen has suffered with an injury but he did get on the pitch for Tottenham on Monday night – albeit an Under-23 match against Liverpool.
The 24-year-old made his first run out in the Premier League’s colours for the first time since August 2017 – a whole 18 months after his last appearance for the club – and the club’s official website showed pictures of him in action.
As expected, Janssen did not play the whole game, however, he will have been pleased to get back to action.
It remains to be seen if he will have a chance in the first-team though, as speculation about his future under Mauricio Pochettino appears to be bleak.
However, with constant rumours about Fernando Llorente’s possible departure continuing to arise, Janssen may get a chance in the coming weeks.
