Tottenham Hotspur have gone a whole Premier League campaign without bringing in any new faces following the conclusion of the January transfer window.
Spurs may have been considering to bring in a striker following the injury to Harry Kane, however, it appears Mauricio Pochettino will stick by the squad he has.
And, it seems he could be about to bring in a player in from the cold.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Newcastle United on Saturday, Pochettino revealed that Vincent Janssen was very much a part of his plans for the remainder of the campaign.
Speaking about his £19.89million 2016 acquisition, per Transfermarkt, he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “We have two free places (in the squad), with Georges-Kevin N’Koudou going to Monaco and (Mousa) Dembele to China, and he (Janssen) is going to be on the list.
“That is my decision – that he is going to be involved in the first team from today (Friday), and he is going to be like another player involved.
“We decided to send him on loan (last season) and then he was injured (at the start of this season).
“We tried to find a solution, because the player wanted to leave the club, and the club wanted to provide him another place to play football – but that was impossible.”
He then went on to add: “He won’t be in the squad tomorrow (against Newcastle) but he is going to be once more in the squad and in the team.”
Although it may have been a surprising move by Pochettino, it may not come as too much of a shock.
Despite the club trying to move him on in the winter transfer window, with no one coming into the side and injuries hitting hard, the Argentine may have no choice to include Janssen in his Premier League squad.
It remains to be seen if whether the Dutch forward will have a role to play in the first-team, or if h has been included just simply to make the numbers up, especially once Kane is back fit and ready to go.
