The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been feeling optimistic about the return of Eden Hazard over the last few days…
Reports have suggested that the Belgian is on track with his recovery following an ankle injury earlier this year, with a return at some point after the start of the season still expected.
However, there is still a genuine concern amongst fans that the Belgian could leave the club, and a recent report from Don Balon has served to reinforce those fears.
According to Don Balon, Eden Hazard is still keen on a move to Real Madrid this summer, whilst Zidane is also keen to bring the Belgian on board. Significantly, it is noted that talk of a potential Madrid move for Kylian Mbappe has had no impact on his desire – with Hazard seemingly keen to play alongside the Frenchman.
Any move would likely demand a huge fee from Los Blancos, and given his current injury status, he would almost certainly miss the start of the La Liga season.
Next season is going to be a very tough one for Chelsea, with a target firmly on their backs following a stellar campaign last year. For that reason, it is important that they keep their best players, of which Eden Hazard is certainly one.
Conte has built his team around the Belgian, and he has become a real talisman for the Blues, and so even a world record move from Real Madrid may not be enough to tempt the English side to sell.
Still, if Hazard is genuinely keen on a move, it could have a huge impact – with Conte unlikely to field an unhappy player. Of course, only time will tell, but our landlord thinks that Chelsea should keep him at all costs.
