Quoted by The Express & Star, West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has said that there is more to the Baggies than just defending for 90 minutes, with their fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping they show more of that as the season goes on.
The Baggies have earned the reputation of being a cagey outfit here in the Transfer Tavern amongst the other fans of Premier League club’s with their performance against Liverpool, a 2-1 loss, not doing much to convince them otherwise.
In fact, that’s a tag manager Tony Pulis seems to carry with him literally wherever he goes.
“The game plan is not to defend for 90 minutes”, said the 33-year-old.
”You try to manage the game. First half they [Liverpool] had a lot of the ball and it was just defending for 45 minutes.
”We spoke at half-time about having a go. Second half we showed composure and better ability on the ball. On another day we could have gone home with a point.”
The Midlands have played Tottenham and Liverpool in recent weeks, two sides at the top of the table, and face the league leaders Manchester City this weekend who are looking to get back to winning ways.
West Brom could get into the top half of the division if they win against Pep Guardiola’s side whilst City will be looking to stretch away from the pack with their own victory.
