‘Wants to win real trophies’ – Fans on Twitter react to potentially damaging Tottenham reports

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story by Duncan Castles for Yahoo Sports, claiming that their club’s Argentine manager, Mauricio Pochettino, is considering his future as Real Madrid prepare to replace Zinedine Zidane. Pochettino couldn’t guide Spurs past Manchester United on Saturday in their FA Cup semi-final match at Wembley, leading to more speculation around the young gaffer’s future.

The last thing that Tottenham fans want to see is Pochettino leave. Since the Argentinian tactician’s appointment, the club has played Champions League football in back-to-back seasons for the first time in their history and have reached back-to-back FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since in Premier League history. Despite Pochettino’s obvious brilliance in North London, he is yet to win silverware, leading many rival fans to have their reservations over his abilities.

Whilst our local Lilywhites would obviously love to win a trophy, the continued challenging in both the Champions League and the Premier League have been prioritised by Poch and they’re both much harder to win. Spurs had a fantastic Champions League campaign this season, beating Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid in their group before being edged u 4-3 on aggregate by Juventus in the round-of-sixteen. It’s clear for all to see that Pochettino will be one of the great managers of this generation, although whether it’s at Spurs or not is a different matter.
