The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been giving their opinions on the news that Jack Wilshere is set to sign for West Ham. The 26-year-old midfielder was released by the club when his contract expired this summer and he could now be set to sign for The Hammers, just five and a half miles away from The Emirates at The London Stadium.

The Arsenal fans propping our bar up were all aware that they would have to one day watch their club play without Jack Wilshere being in the squad, although they thought they’d have a few more years before that happened. Now though, not only will they have to get by without the midfielder, but they could well end up playing against him as Manuel Pellegrini could be set to swoop in for the free agent this summer.
If Wilshere does sign for the Hammers, it will be interesting to see how he fares for a club in mid-table. The 26-year-old from Stevenage has been a consistent performer for Arsenal when he’s been fit and whilst he’s never set the world alight with his displays, the fans have always had a place in their heart for the England man. Now though, he will be tested in a different way as he looks to take on a new challenge in Stratford with West Ham.

Waste of a talent, should have stayed and fought for his place

Time for him to go. Too much time injured to get a long term contract. One year with performance option add ons

Good luck to him. It’s his families club and lots of great Arsenal players down the years have gone there.

Good for him. West Ham is a good relegation team.

Good! Not good enough for where Arsenal want to go! Glad he’s going to be honest!

It’s a step down but wish him well.

It’s a strange one for Arsenal fans, and whilst they’ll be keen to see Wilshere thrive as a Hammer, some are still gutted that he won’t be playing his football st The Emirates next season.
