The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very frustrated at their side’s lack of youth progress over the last few years.
Though there have been some success stories, notably Andreas Christensen and Thibaut Courtois, there have been dozens of players that have been forced to leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular first-team football.
That seems unlikely to change going forward, too, and so unfortunately for players and fans, more departures are likely on the way over the next few years and even over the course of this summer.
There are some players that still have a chance of making it at Chelsea, but one player that simply must consider leaving the club is young Kyle Scott.
The Anglo-American midfielder was used sparingly earlier in the season by Antonio Conte, largely as an option to bulk out the Blues’ bench, but not a single minute of Premier League football followed, and that summed up his position in the squad.
He is a talented player, and so it will frustrate fans to see him fall to this sort of treatment. A technically gifted midfielder, he’s comfortable with the ball at his feet and he’s solid in the tackle, making him a pretty decent jack of all trades in the middle of the park.
Unfortunately for him, though, his lack of opportunities this season – in a campaign in which Chelsea’s midfield has really struggled – effectively closes the door on any chance of making it at Stamford Bridge.
At 20-years-old – he’ll be 21 before the year is over – the midfielder may be best suited to finding an opportunity away from SW6.
