Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern are glad to see the club in the Premier League for another season and are eagerly awaiting their first signing of the summer.
After a bright start to the season, Watford were in the hunt for European qualification. However, their form dropped off towards the back end of the campaign which resulted in another mid-table finish for the Hornets. Last summer’s signings, bar Richarlison, failed to impress and our punters are hoping for much better.
A new goalkeeper will be high on Javi Gracia’s shopping list with Heurelho Gomes falling out of favour, and Oretis Karnezis set to depart following a dreadful loan spell at Vicarage Road, so the Hornets certainly need a new option between the posts. With that in mind, the perfect signing could be Swansea shot-stopper – Lukasz Fabianski.
The Swans were relegated on the final day of the season, and the 33-year-old is now set to leave. The Pole has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the division after leaving Arsenal and is far too good to be playing in the Championship. He is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt and has just one year remaining on his contract.
Fabianski is in his prime, showing no signs of slowing down, and is a significant upgrade on Watford’s current ‘keepers. One of the most solid stoppers in the league, he’d be a wonderful signing.
