Watford fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are waving goodbye to their defender after he has moved to a European heavyweight.
According to the Watford Observer, Porto have confirmed the permanent signing of Watford full back Miguel Layun.
It was a move punters in the Tavern saw coming after the 27-year-old spent the whole of last season on loan at Porto, with a clause in place allowing him to make the move over to Portugal permanent.
The initial loan spell last summer cost Porto €500,000 and they’ve since decided to take Watford up on their offer and have signed Layun for €6million in two instalments.
This isn’t the last Watford fans may hear of the defender as the Hornets have a 20 per cent sell-on clause if Layun is sold by Porto for a fee exceeding €6.5million.
Last season Layun bagged six goals for Porto, helping the Portuguese side finish third in the Primeira Liga.
