Watford eying attacking recruits from Serie A

IturbeWatford fans in the Transfer Tavern enjoying a seasonal cup of eggnog are impressed to hear that their club are looking to build on their impressive league form by showing great ambition in the transfer market.

The latest reports from The Daily Mail state the Hornets are keen to sign Juan Iturbe on-loan in January, as they look to increase their chances of remaining in the top-flight.

The winger was signed from Verona for £15.75 million last year, but has since suffered from a dip in form. It is believed that the former Argentina U20 international’s former club Verona are also in the race to sign Iturbe and are particularly keen.

However, Serie A side Roma are expected to prefer to sell the 22-year-old to a team away from Italy.

With Watford striker Odion Ighalo netting 10 league goals in 16 games, the club currently sit in 7th position in the Premier League, so they would perhaps find it beneficial to bring in an alternative attacking outlook to ease the pressure on their star Nigerian, who was also recruited from the Serie A.

In addition to Iturbe, Watford are also among the clubs asking to be kept informed about Juventus forward Simone Zaza who may be allowed out on loan in January.

The Italian has 2 goals in 7 appearances for the Italian giants, and it is rumoured that several other Premier League clubs, including Stoke City and Crystal Palace, are also keeping tabs on the 24-year old striker.
