Watford launch multi-million pound bid in attempt to land Italian striker

The Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern are already thinking ahead to the summer transfer window as their season fizzles out into a mid-table finish.

Watford have now established themselves as a Premier League club after two successful survival campaigns and they will be targeting bigger things next year.

In order to do so, they need to land some star players and the latest rumour flying around the Transfer Tavern has really got the Watford fans excited.

Italian media outlet Europa Calcio is reporting that Watford have submitted a bid for Mattia Destro.

With the figure believed to be in the region of €9-10 million, Watford have a big chance of landing the Bologna striker.

The occasional Italy international striker just needs to agree on terms with Watford, according to this report, to seal a move to the Premier League.

The 26-year-old is a goal scoring striker who has previously represented Genoa, Siena, Roma and AC Milan.

Watford are still searching for a replacement for Odion Ighalo, who departed the club during the January transfer window.

Italian boss Walter Mazzarri is said to be a big fan of his fellow countryman Mattia Destro and this could be pivotal in Watford’s hopes of landing him.
