Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern are glad to see their summer recruitment drive in full flow and our punters are excited about next season.

The Hornets secured their safety in the division following a problematic 17/18 season. Marco Silva was dismissed early in the season after Everton’s failed pursuit resulted in a poor spell of form for the club. He was replaced by Javi Gracia who guided his side to safety.

Gracia has wasted no time in revamping his squad, adding four permanent signings already. Gerard Deulofeu completed a permanent transfer after impressing on loan from Barcelona. Promising full-back Adam Masina also completed a move to Vicarage Road as well as Marc Navarro from Espanyol and Ben Wilmot from Stevenage.

West Brom keeper, Ben Foster, is on the verge of becoming their fifth summer signing after West Brom were relegated from the Premier League. The Englishman is no stranger to the club having spent a year on loan from Manchester United back in 2006.

Valued at £2.7m by Transfermarkt, Foster is an excellent addition to the Watford squad. The 35-year-old made 37 appearances for the Baggies last season and was a shining light in a miserable campaign. Despite their troubles, he managed to keep ten clean sheets.

Oretis Karnezis was far too inconsistent last season meaning the Hornets needed an experienced goalkeeper. Foster is the perfect option with 288 Premier League appearances under his belt. For just £2.5m, Watford are getting a great deal.
