Watford beat Premier League rivals to land international winger

Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern are relatively pleased with their start to the season, which has seen them draw with Liverpool and beat Bournemouth, but they’re aware further challenges await.

The Hornets have impressed in their early season showings but they may need further recruits to bolster their chances of avoiding relegation and battling into the top-half of the Premier League standings.

Thankfully, the board seems to think the same and the club have confirmed the season-long signing of Peruvian winger Andre Carrillo, beating the likes of Newcastle United and Crystal Palace in the race for the 26-year-old.

Carrillo has worked with Marco Silva previously in Portugal and the Hornets have an option to make the deal a permanent at the end of the current campaign, which is likely to depend on how the South American performs following his move to the Premier League.

Landlord’s Verdict

A regular for Benfica, making 24 appearances last season as the Portuguese side won the title. the capture of Andre Carrillo is a major coup for the Hornets- particularly due to the wealth of clubs they beat in the race for his signature.

However, plenty of players have struggled to adjust to life in the Premier League after succeeding in Portugal and Carrillo has a stern task ahead of him if he is to prove his worth.

Watford fans, what do you expect from Carrillo? Let us know in the comments below!
