As quoted by The Express, Watford manager Walter Mazzarri has revealed that he plans to keep Odion Ighalo at the club, despite the striker struggling desperately for form.
The Hornets fans here in the Transfer Tavern simply cannot understand what has happened with one of their frontmen with him seemingly completely bereft of any confidence in front of goal.
Indeed, he has looked a shadow of his former self from the first half of the 2015/16 season when he was a real threat in and around the box.
His goals helped Watford into the European spots over the first few months of that campaign but since he has completely tailed off and the Hornets have done well under summer appointment Mazzarri to regroup.
The likes of Troy Deeney continues to score whilst Etienne Capoue has found a previously unseen knack for finding the back of the net this year.
Our local Watford supporters want to see Ighalo back in form, though, and their manager doesn’t seem worried just yet, evidently planning on keeping hold of him. Mazzarri said:
“He is a player that I like and I trust very much.
“When he was in a good condition at the beginning of the year he played, and started the games.
“Of course he is a player that we need.”
Our landlord thinks Ighalo will come good again eventually but also reckons a new striker in January wouldn’t go amiss to help out.
