Watford: Fans on Twitter respond to club’s new sponsor

Many Watford fans have responded on Twitter to news of their new club sponsor, Bitcoin.
According to the club website, the sponsor is part of an ‘educational drive’ from the club which is led by betting brand Sportsbet.io.
The Watford shirt will now feature a big red Bitcoin logo on the sleeve of their club shirts, for both home and away kits and goalkeeper kits.
It is said that the logo is part of a campaign to improve awareness around Bitcoin and to educate the public of using cryptocurrencies.
The website states that the sponsorship is crowd-funded, meaning that anyone who has Bitcoin has the opportunity to share perks which are granted to Watford’s sponsors. Contributors can allegedly bid for public LED spaces shown during the matches, use the ‘Bitcoin box’ for eight people, or get exclusive merchandise from the club.
Watford fans have had a mixed reaction to the news, though some have lambasted the club saying it’s nothing to be pleased about, while others asked whether it will do anything to help sort out their defence.
