As reported by ClubCall, scans have revealed that the injury that forced Heurelho Gomes off of the field against Liverpool on Sunday is not as bad as first feared, much to the relief of Walter Mazzarri and our resident Hornets fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
The former Tottenham goalkeeper hobbled off during the first-half against Liverpool and was visibly in pain, with fears he may have twisted his knee.
Instead, the diagnosis is said to have revealed bruising and he should return to action earlier than first thought for the Hertfordshire club.
That will come as good news, as substitute goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon came on in his place and shipped four goals as the Reds won 6-1 at Anfield.
Nevertheless, the Hornets are eighth in the Premier League table after a strong start to the season and they will feel confident on being able to build on that with Gomes expected to be back in training in the next few days according to the report.
Watford face Leicester City as their first game after the international break.
