Watford are nearing closer and closer to mathematical safety and the Hornets within the Transfer Tavern are excited to see their side remain in the Premier League again but have one eye already firmly on the upcoming transfer window.
It seemed shocking at the time when Watford decided to part ways with Marco Silva but that change has worked out to be reasonably successful with Javi Gracia now at the helm. The Hornets have noticeably had a number of standout performers but those are now being linked to the so-called ‘bigger’ clubs.
One player who is continuously dubbed with a move away from Vicarage Road is Abdoulaye Doucoure, who is valued at £10.80 million on Transfermarkt. When arriving at Watford ahead of the 2016/17 season, many fans were excited to see the Frenchman play. Unfortunately, though, the optimists were disappointed as in Doucoure’s 23 games, he provided just one goal and all-in-all offered very little on the pitch.
Skip forward several months and now the 25-year-old is regarded as one of the biggest unsung heroes in the Premier League having impressed immensely with his eye-catching performances. This season thus far, Doucoure has managed to score 7 goals and grab three assists in 30 games for the Hornets. The towering French midfielder has been the main man in the middle, spraying balls out wide but also going forward himself to power home a rocket.
If Watford are again hoping to stay in the Premier League next campaign, keeping Abdoulaye Doucoure is possibly the best business they could do. Admittedly at the moment, it looks like a hard task considering some of the top English teams want him but Watford have to do all they can to keep him.
