Watford should look to make a move for this former Premier League striker

Watford are yet to add a striker to their ranks this summer and their fans who have just joined us in the Transfer Tavern are not happy.

Goalscoring let Walter Mazzarri’s side down last season, only four sides scored fewer than the Hornets.

Now it is critical new boss Marco Silva recruits a hitman to support Troy Deeney up front.

One player who is on the market this summer is Alvaro Negredo.

The Spaniard has returned to Valencia following his loan spell with Middlesbrough last season.

Negredo wasn’t exactly prolific for Boro last year, but he was always held back by his side’s inability to actually muster an attack.

Middlesbrough were so defensive minded from the outset, that Negredo rarely got a kick – still the striker was able to notch up nine Premier League goals and provide four assists in a disappointing season for the North East side.

In fact, the 31-year-old was so essential to Boro, that he scored 33% of the team’s overall league goals.

Watford will need to act fast if they want to sign the frontman. as Besiktas are reportedly closing in on a deal for Negredo.

Watford fans, we want to hear from you? Would you take Negredo? Or do you have someone else in mind? Let us know in the comments…
