Watford, West Ham and Everton locked in £12m battle for impressive Arsenal target

The Watford fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports linking the club with a move for a new defender.

According to the Daily Mail, the Herefordshire outfit have joined the race to sign Lille defender Djibril Sidibe this summer.

The 23-year old joined Les Dogues from Troyes back in 2012 and has proved to be a formidable left-back ever since.

Considering the relative dearth in solid full-backs available, he’s emerged as a hot prospect amongst Premier League suitors.

The future of on loan Chelsea midfielder, who has occupied the berth this season, remains unclear.

Now, the Hornets are believed to have entered a £12m battle for the Frenchman, battling the likes of West Ham, Everton and Arsenal for his services.

With Walter Mazzarri now in charge at Vicarage Road, the club will now look to improve on what was a solid first season back in top tier, if a little unspectacular.

Will Watford stay up next season?
