‘We need a target man’ – Liverpool fans demand shock acquisition of £11.7m-rated striker on Twitter

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Jurgen Klopp will reinvest some of the funds accumulated from the sale of Philippe Coutinho by the end of the month.

Although Liverpool have already concluded the signing of Virgil Van Dijk in a world-record breaking deal this month, the Kopites in the tavern are eager to see further acquisitions by the end of the window to ensure that they achieve qualification for the Champions League. The Reds have been rumoured with plenty of star players since Coutinho departed the club, but the latest rumour to emerge concerning Liverpool’s transfer targets has truly taken the supporters by surprise.

According to The Sun, Liverpool are in the hunt for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon (valued at £11.7 million by Transfermarkt), although they face competition from their local-rivals Everton for his signature. Since Rondon’s move to the Premier League from Zenit St Petersburg, the Venezuelan captain has scored 23 goals from 105 appearances.

His record is rather modest for a player who arrived for a fee of £15.3 million in the summer 2015 – a huge fee at the time for a club of West Brom’s stature – but there is a suggestion that he could become more prolific with better players around him.

Plenty of the Liverpool fans have encouraged their club to focus their interest elsewhere, however, that opinion is certainly not shared by the entirety of the fan base, as a handful of supporters firmly believe that Rondon would be a decent addition to the current Liverpool squad.

Here’s what the Liverpool fans have had to say about the potential signing of West Brom’s 28-year-old front-man on Twitter…
