Its been a tough old week for Arsenal supporters. First came the FA Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates Stadium a week ago, then Arsene Wenger’s slightly bizarre, slightly sad, slightly funny, angry press conference, ahead of what turned out to be a bitterly disappointing Champions league humbling by Bayern Munich.
To make matters worse, Arsenal fans have had to endure stick from all angles over the fact they are set to remain without silverware for the eighth successive year.
Pundits, press, supporters at home and abroad have all twisted the knife further. Even the Bayern Munich fans enjoyed a good mickey take by singing our famous anthem – Football’s Coming Home, throughout the night of their 3-1 triumph.
And just when you think it can’t get any worse for Arsenal, even their own advertise hoardings have started to get involved, as this picture below shows.
When you are 3-1 down at home and being given the run around in front of your own angry supporters, is it really the right time to ask: ‘are you UEFA Champions League level?’
Arsenal fans will be hoping this proves inspiration for the second leg in just under three weeks time and the Arsenal players will be able to take great joy in ramming those words back down the advertise hoardings throat.
We shall wait and see.
