After he hit a landmark 200 goals for Chelsea yesterday in the game against his old club West Ham United ironically, we could not let this moment go past without a comment at the Football Transfer Tavern and we feel that this picture (with thanks to Canadian pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen) represents just how the majority of people feel regarding Frank Lampard’s current situation at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard has been simply sensational for Chelsea and whilst their skipper John Terry may have kept them firmly in the front pages for the last 10 years, Lampard and Didier Drogba made sure they still featured on the back ones. Simply a hero to Chelsea fans, Lampard is now two away from the all-time record and with the amount of games Chelsea have yet to play, he looks like he will reach this total.
There was a touching moment in the game yesterday when friend and skipper John Terry entered the field of play and told Lamps to keep the armband. The friendship between the captain and his team mate has been a vital part of Chelsea’s success down the years.
Lampard’s future is still unclear and despite it looking more likely that he will stay for at least another year, no one really knows officially, yet we think the photo below speaks for the thoughts of us all.
