Many were surprised that Tottenham’s Gareth Bale was indeed crowned both PFA Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year at the recent awards ceremony in London.
The winger has been sensational this season and has won Tottenham points almost on his own at times throughout the campaign.
The Welshman is still on 23-years-old and so some would argue is not even at his peak yet, which is a scary thought.
Whether it be dazzling runs down the wing or stunning 30-yard screamers, Bale has shown why he is now one of the best players in the world and a summer move to Real Madrid would be a real loss to not only Andre Villas-Boas and Tottenham but also the Premier League at large.
Manchester United’s Robin van Persie was an unlucky runner-up in the PFA Awards after yet another impressive goalscoring season but Bale has been in a different class with his overall game, not just putting the ball in the net.
Congratulations Gareth from all at the Football Transfer Tavern!
