Week In Pictures – The world will be watching

mourinho.jpgThe Special One declared the ‘world would stop’ to watch the tie between Manchester United and Spanish giants Real Madrid later tonight and we at the Football Transfer Tavern fully agree. Not only was the first leg set up for a brilliant repeat with Real needing to score but both sides have been in breathtaking form ahead of the second leg.

There have been several stand out players, Raphael Varane and of course Cristiano Ronaldo for Real while Shinji Kagawa has impressed for United. Add to this the managerial mind games and the history of both sides and it certainly has lived up to its billing as the tie of the round.

Mourinho may claim that a run down the Old Trafford touch line is out of the question should victory occur but with tensions running high and no one forgetting the way he celebrated when his side clinched a group stage comeback win against Manchester City, celebrations of the winning side are sure to dominate the back pages tomorrow.

Fergie has been bang on form for the knockout stages and has given more than a couple of classic press conferences whilst Mourinho has been somewhat more subdued given his usual trickery with the media – perhaps with one eye on Fergie’s job eventually?

Either way, with the talent on show tonight at one of the great cathedrals in football and it all to play for, no one will be wanting to miss this. That is exactly why the picture below summed up exactly how we were all feeling for the battle. Mourinho v Fergie, Ronny v RVP and Real Madrid v Manchester United.

Quite simply the tie of the round.

Football tonight?
